How do I know if I should work with an interior designer?

Will you provide a general contractor? Or do I need to find one?
Our extended team includes general contractors that we work well with, trust, and recommend. We would be happy to introduce you and collaborate with them on your project. However, if you already have your own licensed and insured general contractor, we are more than willing to work with them. Just let us know your needs, and we will find the best solution for everyone.
How long does a renovation or furnishings project take?
The length of your interior design project depends on a number of factors, such as scope, the availability of materials, contractors' schedules, the season, and more. While we can't give you an exact timeline without knowing more, our initial meetings will estimate and then refine your project schedule with reasonable accuracy. As the project gets underway, we will update you weekly with progress made.
What can I expect to invest in interior design?
Like a design project's timeline, the investment is very difficult to estimate without key details around scope, the type of materials you would like (e.g.marble vs. quartz), the level of customization, the different professionals involved, freight costs, etc. During our discovery call and consultation, we discuss your desired investment in more depth to understand what you are comfortable investing and what is possible with that amount. Our project minimums start at $25-$30K.
Our design fees adjust based on the scope of our services: design, project management, custom window fashions, etc. We will discuss this in our preliminary conversations for full transparency. However, you can generally expect design fees to hover around 20-35% of a project's total investment.
Do I order furnishings through you?
Yes. The advantage of working with a full-service interior design firm is that we source and procure all furnishings for your project, with the exception of any existing furnishings you might have and want to keep. (Such as family heirlooms, or a beloved chair you might intend to reupholster.)
As a design firm with 30+ years of experience, we have a vast network of trade-only resources. We have built our relationships with vendors and artisans over decades, to keep our selection as top-tier as possible in quality, customization, and style.
Will we go shopping together?
For those who love shopping, unfortunately, this isn't the occasion to do it. We love to collaborate on the design direction, but our clients don't hire us to see a thousand options. They hire us to filter through the noise to identify the best options for them. We do this in our studio, surrounded by our product library - a collection of product and material samples curated and perfected over 30 years.
What if you create a design I don't like?
Our design process is structured in a way that ensures this never happens. We aren't the designers who push our own aesthetic on you. Instead, we invite you to be part of the collaborative process from the beginning. We will ask you to share your likes, dislikes, personality, and lifestyle with us. When we present your design concept to you, the direction has already been approved and we invite your feedback as we refine it further. You will have full confidence in the design long before any walls come down or orders are placed.
